Nobody spars
on day one.

Beginners learn to skip, to move and to hold their hands up. Sparring is earned, in headgear, under a coach’s eye — and only when a boxer is ready. Three nights a week in the same hall since 1929.

The club's own claim

More national champions than any club in Ireland.

Their words, not ours — and the hall walls back them up. Framed photographs and newspaper cuttings of past members, going back generations.

Competing is a choice, not the price of joining — plenty of members never do.

What a member says
Been going to this club since I was a kid. Best club in Dublin with trainers who take time to better your ability.

A session at Arbour Hill

The same ninety minutes,
three nights a week.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday run to an identical shape — Friday simply starts an hour earlier. This is a whole evening, in order, so you know exactly what you are dropping your child into. The clock below follows a Monday.

6:45 Session starts · Friday 5:45 pm
01

Warm-up and skipping

Everybody starts together on the mats — new kids beside the ones who have been coming for years. No experience needed, and nobody is singled out on their first night.

02

Technical drills

Stance, guard, movement. The basics, taught slowly and corrected by a coach — this is most of what boxing actually is.

03

Pads with a coach

Gloves on, hitting the pads a coach is holding — the part they keep coming back for.

Nobody spars on day one.

Sparring is earned — headgear on, under a coach's eye, and only when a boxer is ready. Some members never compete at all, and that is fine too.

04

Bags and conditioning

The last stretch of the night: bags, circuits, and enough running about that they sleep well after it.

The hall

The kids who came before
are still on these walls.

Kids from Dublin 7 walk in shy on a Monday. They learn to skip, learn to move, learn to hold their hands up — and somewhere along the way they stop being shy.

That is the job. Boxing is how the club does it: structured sessions, qualified coaches, and a hall lined with photographs of the kids who came before. Some of them are on the walls now.

Before you come down

Questions parents ask.

Is boxing safe for a child?

Training is supervised and structured: technique, fitness and discipline. Beginners do not spar. When a boxer is ready, sparring happens in headgear, under a coach's eye — and only then.

Can I stay and watch?

Yes. Parents sit along the side of the hall for the whole session, and you are welcome to come down and watch a night before your child tries one.

Does my child have to compete?

No. Plenty of members train purely for fitness, confidence and the company. Competing is a choice, not the price of joining.

What should they wear on the night?

Whatever they can move in — a t-shirt, tracksuit bottoms and runners. A bottle of water is worth bringing. Nothing else is needed for a first session.

Do we need to buy gloves first?

No. Come down as you are for the trial session. If your child stays, the coaches will tell you exactly what to buy and what not to bother with.

What if they have never boxed before?

That is most of the room on a Monday. Every session starts with the whole group warming up together, and the drills are taught from the very beginning.

I’ve improved so much at this gym in just four months. The trainers are excellent, the facilities are great, and the atmosphere is really fun. It’s the best gym in Dublin fantastic for all ages

Amazing club! Open to all skill levels and ages. A real community with great coaches that has helped me build my confidence and boxing ability over the last year.

A great club with great coaches. I have my son training in this club for 2 years now. His confidence and fitness has improved massively. Highly recommended.
